What this Trial Is About
Researchers are comparing the effects of shockwave therapy and eccentric exercises on pain, functional ability, quality of life, grip strength, and range of motion in adults aged 20 to 50 with lateral epicondylitis, also known as tennis elbow. This randomized, double-blind trial aims to find which treatment better helps reduce symptoms and improve function for people with this condition. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. Group A will receive shockwave therapy sessions lasting 5 minutes each, using an energy level of 7.0 mJ and a frequency of 6 Hz. Group B will perform eccentric exercises consisting of 10 repetitions per exercise, 3 sets per session, with a 1-minute rest between sets. Both interventions will be provided over five weeks, with three sessions per week, totaling 15 sessions. Participants will be assessed at the start of the study and after five weeks to measure pain intensity, functional ability, quality of life, grip strength, and range of motion. These evaluations will help determine the effectiveness of each treatment approach. The study is sponsored by Ibadat International University, Islamabad, and participation involves regular treatment sessions and follow-up assessments over the five-week period.
