Comparing Two Therapy Methods to Improve Upper Limb Movement and Daily Activities in Adults After Stroke

Stroke causes sudden problems with brain function lasting more than 24 hours or leading to death due to blood vessel issues. Researchers are comparing two rehabilitation strategies, Task-Oriented Training and Hand-Arm Bimanual Intensive Therapy, to see how they affect upper limb movement and daily activities in adults who have had a stroke. This randomized clinical trial involves 30 stroke patients aged 45 to 70 with mild to moderate upper limb impairment. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups Group A will receive Task-Oriented Training, and Group B will undergo Hand-Arm Bimanual Intensive Therapy. Both therapies involve exercises performed three times a week for eight weeks, with sessions starting at 30 minutes and increasing to 45 minutes. Exercises include reaching, grasping, and weight-bearing tasks for Group A, and ball rolling, towel folding, and cutting with scissors for Group B, with gradually increasing intensity. Throughout the study, researchers will assess participants before and after the 8-week interventions using tests for gross motor skills, fine motor skills, and daily activity performance. These include the Action Research Arm Test, Nine Hole Peg Test, and Barthel Index. Data will be analyzed statistically to compare the effects of the two therapies. Participants will be monitored for changes in upper limb function and independence in daily activities.
