Comparing Therapeutic Ultrasound and Sinus Massage Effects for Chronic Rhinosinusitis Treatment in Adults

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are conducting a randomized controlled trial to compare the effects of therapeutic ultrasound and sinus massage in people with Chronic Rhinosinusitis CRS. The study aims to understand which technique better improves pain, sinonasal symptoms, quality of life, and nasal airflow. Participants are diagnosed with CRS based on criteria from the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Foundation AAO-HNSF. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups. All groups will continue their usual steam therapy and medications prescribed by an ENT specialist. One group will receive additional therapeutic ultrasound over the maxillary sinus, another will receive sinus massage involving pressure and milking techniques, and the third group will serve as a control without additional physical therapy treatment. During the study, researchers will assess pain levels after 4 weeks and measure sinonasal symptoms, quality of life related to rhinosinusitis, and nasal inspiratory flow rate after 6 weeks. Data collection will take place at Foundation University College of Physical Therapy and Fauji Foundation Hospital. The total participation duration will be up to 6 weeks, with regular monitoring of symptoms and nasal airflow to evaluate the treatments effects.
