What this Trial Is About

This trial investigates gingival recession, focusing on defects with severe interdental hard and soft tissue loss that pose challenges due to their avascular surface and limited periosteal support. It compares two surgical techniques—novel 3D tunneling (3DT) and modified coronally advanced tunnel (MCAT) with connective tissue graft—for managing multiple adjacent RT2 gingival recession defects. The study aims to validate the 3DT method, which showed promising long-term clinical improvement and also addresses lingual recession. Participants will receive either the 3DT procedure or the MCAT technique with a connective tissue graft. Both procedures focus on root coverage of affected areas, including mid-facial and interdental root surfaces. The trial is randomized with single masking and includes follow-up to assess the stability and effectiveness of these two surgical approaches. Throughout the study, participants will undergo multiple assessments including measurements of gingival recession depth, clinical attachment levels, probing depths, width of keratinized tissue, and esthetic scores. Pain levels post-operation will be monitored using a visual analogue scale. All outcomes are tracked from enrollment to one year after treatment to evaluate long-term effects and stability.
