Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Patient has undergone a qualifying surgical procedure.
- Patient is aged 18 years or over.
- Patient has incentive spirometry ordered or it is part of the hospital's standard care.
- Patient can follow all instructions for using the incentive spirometer.
- Patient does not have severe hearing or vision problems preventing them from noticing the device's signals.
You will not qualify if you...
- Pregnant individuals, minors, prisoners, or those with significantly reduced mental acuity.
- Patients for whom incentive spirometry is inappropriate, such as those with Tractotomy, hemodynamic instability, or in reverse isolation.
- Patients with history of non-compliance, psychiatric conditions, drug or alcohol addiction, or cognitive issues affecting study participation.
- Any medical condition that increases risk as judged by the investigator.
- Any physician decision that the patient should not participate.
