Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Patients with a body mass index (BMI) between 30 and 40 kg/m2
- American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status II or III
- Patients aged between 18 and 60 years
- Patients scheduled to undergo laparoscopic bariatric surgery
You will not qualify if you...
- Patients who refuse to participate in the study
- History of thoracic surgery
- History of chest diseases such as COPD, emphysema, or pneumothorax
- Abnormal pre-operative chest X-rays including pneumonia or pleural effusion
- Right-side heart failure or impending heart failure
- Known hypovolemia
- Increased intracranial pressure
