What this Trial Is About
Pemphigus vulgaris PV is a chronic autoimmune disorder that causes painful oral lesions and significantly reduces quality of life. This trial studies the effectiveness and safety of supportive topical treatments, including clobetasol propionate 0.05% mouthwash, photobiomodulation therapy PBMT, and their combination. The goal is to find topical therapies that help heal oral erosions, reduce pain, and potentially lower the need for systemic medications, thereby improving patient outcomes. Participants receive one of three treatments clobetasol propionate 0.05% mouthwash used three times daily for 3 minutes over 4 weeks with gradual tapering, PBMT delivered by a 650 nm diode laser twice weekly for 30 days, or a combination of both treatments given simultaneously. The laser treatment is non-invasive and applied without contact to the lesions. All treatments are administered according to standardized protocols. During the study, participants are followed with assessments on Days 7, 14, 21, 28, 42, 60, and 90. Researchers will measure disease severity using scores like the Pemphigus Disease Area Index and Oral Disease Severity Score, track corticosteroid dosages, and evaluate quality of life and anxiety or depression scales. The trial includes safety monitoring and aims to observe the healing progress and impact on systemic medication use over three months.
