Researchers are comparing two methods of crown lengthening, a dental procedure to reshape gums and sometimes bone to expose more of a tooths structure. This procedure is performed for both functional reasons, like preparing a tooth for a crown, and aesthetic reasons, such as improving the smiles appearance. The study evaluates traditional surgical crown lengthening against a less invasive laser-assisted method using the erbiumYAG laser, focusing on periodontal health outcomes. The study involves two groups one receiving the traditional surgical crown lengthening, which includes incisions, flap elevation, bone reshaping, and suturing and the other treated with the erbiumYAG laser that reshapes soft and hard tissues using specific laser settings and tips without flap surgery. The laser group uses a flapless technique, aiming to reduce discomfort and promote faster healing. Both procedures are performed following standard clinical guidelines. Participants will be assessed for postoperative pain shortly after treatment and at three days, as well as periodontal health measures like probing depth at baseline, three months, and six months. Patient satisfaction with the procedure is also measured over time. The study includes follow-up visits for up to six months to monitor outcomes and healing. Overall participation lasts from screening through the follow-up period, with detailed evaluations of pain, tissue healing, and patient experience.
