Age: 50Years +
All Genders

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Community-dwelling stroke survivors aged 50 years or older
  • Both genders are eligible
  • At least 3 months have passed since the stroke
  • Vital signs are stable
  • Survivors of both hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke
  • Modified Rankin Scale score of 3 or less
  • Short Physical Performance Battery score between 3 and 9
  • Mini-Mental State Exam score of 18 or greater
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Unable to perform exercises
  • Diagnosed vestibular disease
  • Normal elderly individuals without stroke
  • Presence of dyskinesias preventing completion of Tai Chi exercises
  • Serious medical conditions such as active cancer treatment
  • Stroke survivors without disabilities interfering with study participation
  • Taking medications that increase fall risk
  • Underwent strength and balance training in the past 3 months
