Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Single gliomas with contrast enhancement on preoperative MRI (presumed high-grade gliomas)
  • One or several brain metastases from any cancer
  • Newly diagnosed tumors
  • Karnofsky Performance Status between 60% and 100%
  • Age between 18 and 79 years
  • Have undergone MRI with contrast enhancement
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Tumor spreading to corpus callosum or brainstem
  • Previous brain radiotherapy
  • Planned supratotal tumor resection involving neurophysiologically important brain areas
  • Known hypersensitivity to 5-aminolevulinic acid or porphyrins
  • Hepatic or renal insufficiency
  • Porphyria
  • Pregnancy
  • Breastfeeding
