What this Trial Is About

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a group of chronic gastrointestinal diseases that can come and go over a person's lifetime and currently have no cure. Researchers are studying how to predict how patients will respond to biologic treatments, which are expensive and do not work for 30-50% of patients. The goal is to develop a reliable model using clinical data and biomarkers to guide personalized treatment decisions for IBD patients. The study will collect detailed clinical information from IBD patients at Peking University First Hospital who are treated with different biologics, including anti-cytokine antibodies and anti-integrin antibodies. Patients will be grouped based on the biologic type they receive. Researchers will analyze the data using statistical and machine learning methods to create and compare models that predict treatment response and then develop a user-friendly clinical tool based on the best model. Participants will provide clinical data including baseline characteristics, biomarker levels, and treatment responses. The main outcome measured is disease activity up to 8 weeks after biologic treatment. This observational study will help improve treatment outcomes by supporting clinical decisions and potentially reducing healthcare costs. The study starts in August 2025 and is sponsored by Peking University First Hospital.
