Cromoglicate Adjunctive Therapy for Outpatients With Schizophrenia
Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Written informed consent
- Both genders, ages 18-60 years
- Diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder according to DSM V
- Treated with the same antipsychotic drug for at least 60 days and stable dose for more than 1 month
- PANSS total score of 60 or higher and score 4 or more on one or more positive syndrome items (P1-P7)
- Preference for patients with psychosis duration less than 7 years
You will not qualify if you...
- Illicit substance use in the last 30 days or dependence in 6 months, except methadone for opioid withdrawal
- History or current medical or neurological illness causing unstable course, except well-controlled epilepsy for at least 6 months
- Pregnancy
- History of immune disorders, HIV infection, or use of immune suppressants or modulators such as steroids
- Current or prior treatment with cromoglycate or known hypersensitivity to cromoglycate
- Intellectual disability as defined by DSM V
