Investigating the Relationship Between EEG and MRI Brain Connectivity in Adults

This research aims to explore the relationship between brain activity measured by electroencephalography EEG and functional magnetic resonance imaging fMRI. The study focuses on correlating the connectivity observed in EEG with brain network connectivity seen with fMRI, enhancing understanding of brain function through integrating these two methods. The study is investigative and involves adults who have previously undergone brain MRI scans. Participants will undergo EEG evaluation using a dry electrodes headset to capture electrical brain activity. The EEG data will be processed to remove noise and artifacts and analyzed for frequency bands, oscillations, and power distribution. Functional connectivity analysis of EEG signals will be compared with fMRI connectivity across different brain regions and EEG frequency bands, including event-related potentials and synchronization. During the study, participants will complete EEG testing and data collection. Researchers will assess correlations between EEG and fMRI findings, anatomical MRI results, and clinical or cognitive measures. The primary outcome is the correlation of EEG and fMRI functional connectivity over approximately 24 months from the first to last participant. Safety and cooperation during EEG are monitored, and the total participation involves a single EEG evaluation after prior MRI.
