Monoclonal gammopathy (MG) is a hidden, asymptomatic condition involving abnormal plasma cell growth, often detected by chance when patients undergo tests for monoclonal immunoglobulin (M protein) due to various symptoms. This research investigates the positive rate and distribution of serum M protein in patients visiting different hospital departments, using a highly sensitive detection method based on the MALDI-TOF MS platform. The study also examines the relationship between the concentration of serum M protein and clinical indicators, aiming to understand better how this protein appears across medical specialties and its clinical significance. The study involves testing serum samples from patients attending outpatient, emergency, or inpatient services at Zhujiang Hospital. Using the advanced MALDI-TOF MS platform, researchers detect serum monoclonal immunoglobulin to identify the presence and levels of M protein. This cross-sectional approach explores how frequently M protein appears in different departments and correlates its levels with clinical data, without introducing experimental treatments or interventions. Participants provide serum samples that have been properly stored, and researchers analyze these samples to measure M protein presence and concentration.
