AI-Summary

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating a culturally adapted internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (i-CBT) designed for Farsi/Dari-speaking youth migrants and refugees aged 15 to 29. This randomized controlled trial aims to see if this tailored therapy can reduce symptoms of common mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, grief, psychological trauma, insomnia, and stress. The study is sponsored by Karolinska Institutet and focuses on mild to moderate psychological problems within this population. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an experimental group receiving the i-CBT intervention or a control group on a waiting list. The treatment lasts for 10 weeks and includes support through a chatting function. The intervention is specifically adapted to the cultural and language needs of Farsi/Dari speakers and targets common mental health symptoms. The control group will not receive any intervention during this period. Throughout the study, participants will complete assessments before starting the treatment, immediately after finishing it, and again six months later. These assessments include measures such as the Hopkins Symptom Checklist-25 (HSCL-25) to monitor psychological symptoms and other tools evaluating wellbeing, resilience, grief, PTSD symptoms, insomnia, and client satisfaction. The study tracks changes over time to understand the effects of the intervention and includes regular monitoring to ensure participant safety and support.
