Study to Collect Data and Evaluate the OptiBP Mobile App Using Machine Learning for Blood Pressure Estimation

Researchers are evaluating the use of advanced machine learning techniques within a mobile phone application to estimate blood pressure. This study aims to collect data to develop and assess how well this smartphone-based method can measure blood pressure compared to traditional cuff-based devices. The trial involves participants from the general population who have access to specific technology and meet certain language and consent requirements. Participants will use the OptiBP Study app on their smartphones to measure their blood pressure by placing their fingertip on the phones camera. At the same time, they will take blood pressure readings using their own automatic upper arm cuff-based monitor. This simultaneous data collection will help researchers compare the smartphone-based optical measurements with the standard cuff measurements. During the study, participants will provide their blood pressure readings using both methods and enter the cuff values into the app. Researchers will monitor the collected data over 12 months, assessing the accuracy of the smartphone estimations and any inconvenience or adverse events experienced by participants. The study is designed to be inclusive of adults with Android smartphones and access to blood pressure cuffs, with safety and performance carefully evaluated throughout the participation period.
