Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adult patients referred to Pulmonary Medicine with suspected penicillin allergy
- Healthy adult volunteers with no personal or family history of drug allergy, atopy, inflammatory, or autoimmune diseases
You will not qualify if you...
- History of systemic reactions such as DRESS or internal organ involvement
- History of Type II-III hypersensitivity reactions
- Severe Type IV hypersensitivity reactions including Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, DRESS, vasculitis, or acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis
- Chronic idiopathic urticaria on antihistamine maintenance or anti-IgE treatment
- Use of medications affecting test outcomes
- Active uncontrolled underlying diseases such as asthma
- Cardiac disease with increased risk of serious anaphylaxis
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Allergic reaction within the last 4-6 weeks
