What this Trial Is About
Researchers are studying how to better support children with cancer and their parents when making treatment decisions. The study aims to understand parents' information needs, create a Taiwan version of the Control Preferences Scale for decision support, and evaluate how involving minor cancer patients and their parents in decision-making affects their experience. This trial focuses on children and young adults aged 7 to 20 who have been diagnosed with pediatric cancer. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either decision-making information aids designed to help patients and parents with treatment choices or routine care without these aids. The study will observe and compare outcomes over time to assess the effectiveness of involving minors and their families in shared decision-making during cancer treatment. Throughout the study, researchers will assess decision-making preferences, perceived involvement, decision conflict, family adaptability, coping behaviors, and anxiety levels of both minors and their parents. These evaluations will occur at the start of the study and again at 1, 3, and 6 months. Participants and their families will be closely monitored to understand how the decision support intervention influences their experiences during cancer care.
