Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease affecting millions worldwide, including about 300 new cases annually in Barcelona. It poses significant public health challenges and is linked to other diseases as well as various social and psychological factors. This research aims to develop a new integrative method to stage tuberculosis disease more effectively, improving understanding and management. The study does not involve specific drug interventions but focuses on designing an integrative algorithm to stage tuberculosis. This innovative approach combines clinical, microbiological, and possibly other relevant data to better characterize the disease stages for improved clinical management. Participants diagnosed with tuberculosis confirmed by microbiological tests will be involved, with clinical management occurring at designated hospitals. Researchers will assess clinical and microbiological changes at the start, after 2 months, 6 months, and for certain cases, at 12 months. The study monitors how tuberculosis progresses and responds over time, aiming to enhance treatment strategies through better disease staging.
