Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Participants must voluntarily sign informed consent
- Diagnosis of liver cirrhosis by clinical, lab, imaging, or biopsy
- Gastric varices diagnosed by endoscopy (gastroesophageal varices type 1 or 2, or isolated gastric varices type 1)
- High risk of gastric varices or history of gastric varices bleeding
- Hemodynamically stable after initial fluid resuscitation
- Age 18 years or older
You will not qualify if you...
- Younger than 18 years old
- Regional portal hypertension
- Previous liver transplant, jugular intrahepatic portal vein shunt, or splenectomy combined with varices surgery
- Concurrent hepatorenal syndrome or multiple organ failure
- Malignant tumor significantly affecting survival
- Pregnancy or lactation
- Known allergy to iodine
