Development of an Educational Patient Decision Aid (Treatments in Advanced Cancer - Decision Aid, TA-DA) to Promote Shared Decision Making for Third-line or Beyond Palliative Systemic Therapy
Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Clinicians must be MD Anderson medical oncologists or advanced practice providers caring for advanced cancer patients
- Patients must be 18 years or older
- Patients must have advanced cancer (metastatic, relapsed, or incurable) and have received at least two lines of palliative systemic therapy
- Patients must have an ECOG performance status of 1-3 for Parts I/II or 2-3 for Part III
- Patients must be able to make treatment decisions based on oncology team judgment
- Patients must speak English
- Caregivers must be 18 years or older
- Caregivers must be primary caregivers providing regular physical, emotional, decisional, or logistical support to eligible patients
- Caregivers must be identified by the patient and self-identify as the primary support person
- Caregivers must provide informed consent and participate in the study
- Caregivers must speak English
You will not qualify if you...
- Patients with cognitive impairment or dementia requiring a surrogate decision maker
- Participants who took part in Parts I and II are excluded from Part III
