What this Trial Is About

This observational study focuses on pregnant women in their third trimester, aiming to understand how physical fitness and emotional well-being can help predict the type of birth they will have, such as natural vaginal birth, cesarean section, or medically assisted birth. The study also explores whether a womans physical activity and confidence during pregnancy influence her ability to breastfeed successfully for up to six months. Participants will perform two simple physical tests during a clinic visit a hand-grip strength test and a 30-second chair stand test. They will also complete surveys about their daily physical activity, feelings and fears related to childbirth, and confidence in managing the final stages of birth and pushing. Follow-up phone calls will be conducted one month and six months after birth to discuss breastfeeding progress. Throughout the study, researchers will measure the mode of birth at delivery and breastfeeding maintenance at one and six months postpartum. Participants will be asked about their physical activity and emotional state during pregnancy, and their breastfeeding experience after birth. The study is expected to run from June 2026 to December 2027, with primary data collection completing by June 2027.
