Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Diagnosis of acute pancreatitis within 0 to 90 days before enrollment
  • Ability to understand and participate in all study activities including informed consent, case report forms, telephone interviews, metabolic testing, and follow-ups
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Definite chronic pancreatitis diagnosed by CT, MRI, or MRCP showing pancreatic calcifications or ductal abnormalities
  • Hospitalization for less than 48 hours due to post-ERCP acute pancreatitis
  • Previous direct endoscopic or percutaneous necrosectomy or drainage of pancreatic necrosis before enrollment
  • Presence of pancreatic tumors including ductal adenocarcinoma, neuroendocrine tumors, or metastasis
  • Confirmed or suspected cystic tumor causing pancreatic duct dilation or acute pancreatitis
  • Prior pancreatic surgeries such as distal pancreatectomy, pancreaticoduodenectomy, necrosectomy, or Frey procedure
  • Use of disallowed medications within 30 days before enrollment as per study manual
  • Severe systemic illnesses including past organ transplant, AIDS, recent cancer treatment (except skin cancer), severe kidney disease, cirrhosis, or other conditions with life expectancy under 12 months
  • Known pregnancy at enrollment
  • Incarceration
  • Any condition that compromises participant safety or study integrity
