Diagnosis of Renal Osteodystrophy in Patients With Reduced Renal Function
Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 18 years or older
- Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR) 20 ml/min/1.73m2 or less
- Parathyroid hormone (PTH) level less than 150 pg/ml or greater than 300 pg/ml
Control Group Inclusion Criteria:
- Age 18 years or older
- eGFR 60 ml/min or higher
- Under examination for prostate cancer
- Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) total less than 40 g/l
You will not qualify if you...
- Ongoing malignancy
- Allergy to tetracycline
- Pregnancy
Control Group Exclusion Criteria:
- Former kidney disease
- Ionized calcium or PTH outside normal range
- Known metabolic bone disease
- Treatment with anticoagulants
- Disturbed thrombosis and hemostasis
