Researchers are studying changes in visual function and the structure of the optic nerve in people with glaucoma or those at increased risk of developing glaucoma. The goal is to find the best ways to detect glaucoma or its worsening over time, especially in people with myopia and in different ethnic groups. The study also aims to understand how glaucoma affects daily life and vision quality, and to distinguish glaucoma progression from normal age-related changes. Participants include healthy individuals, those suspected of having glaucoma, and glaucoma patients, with or without myopia. They are examined about twice a year with various tests such as visual acuity, eye pressure measurements, imaging scans, and color vision testing. There is also an optional additional study involving imaging and pressure measurements in different body positions. Some glaucoma patients may temporarily stop eye pressure medication before imaging under medical supervision. Participants typically attend 2 to 4 visits per year, each lasting 2 to 5 hours, for several years as long as funding continues. Tests include eye exams, imaging, blood pressure, and vision function assessments. Researchers monitor changes in glaucoma status over time and compare results with healthy controls. The study involves multiple centers and collects detailed data to improve glaucoma diagnosis and management.
