What this Trial Is About
GlucoTab is a stand-alone software system to support healthcare professionals in the care of patients with diabetes mellitus or newly diagnosed hyperglycaemia who are treated with insulin and/or other glucose-lowering drugs or of patients only requiring glucose monitoring. It provides a therapy algorithm for subcutaneous basal insulin therapy of patients with type 2 diabetes, which will be used in this study.

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Elderly people willing to be treated with basal insulin therapy using the GlucoTab system
- Provided informed consent after understanding the study
- Male or female aged 18 years or older
- Diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes treated with insulin therapy
- Residents of nursing homes or receiving domiciliary nursing care in the Camp de Tarragona region of Spain
You will not qualify if you...
- Diagnosis of type 1 diabetes mellitus
- Receiving intravenous insulin therapy
- Experiencing hyperglycaemic episodes requiring intravenous insulin therapy (e.g., ketoacidosis, hyperosmolar state)
- Using continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion
- Pregnant or diagnosed with gestational diabetes
- Known or suspected allergy to insulin
- Receiving total parenteral nutrition
- Any mental condition preventing the patient from giving consent
- Any disease or condition that could interfere with the trial or patient safety according to the investigator
