Study on Digital Privacy and Literacy Education for Gifted High School Students Evaluating Awareness and Concerns Through a Structured Program

This research aims to evaluate how gifted and talented high school students perceive and are concerned about digital privacy within their digital literacy. The study focuses on assessing the effects of a structured digital literacy and privacy education program designed to increase awareness and informed decision-making in digital settings. Gifted students enrolled in grades 9 through 12 at Science and Art Centers are randomly assigned to receive either the new digital privacy education or standard educational practices. The intervention group participates in a structured digital literacy and digital privacy education program that covers topics such as digital rights, personal data protection, digital footprints, online risks, and responsible digital behavior. The program uses interactive sessions with age-appropriate materials, real-life scenarios, guided discussions, and reflective activities. The control group continues with their usual education without the additional privacy program. Assessments occur before, immediately after, and three months following the intervention to measure changes over time. Participants complete validated questionnaires measuring digital literacy, privacy perceptions, and privacy-related concerns at baseline and three months follow-up. Sociodemographic data are also collected. The study tracks immediate and sustained effects of the education program on these outcomes. The total study period includes pre-test, post-test, and follow-up assessments to understand how the program influences students views and concerns about digital privacy.
