Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Aged 22 to 50 years at enrollment
- Participated in the DRIVE I or DRIVE II studies, or did not participate and has not received influenza vaccination in the prior two years
- Capable of providing informed consent
- Resident in Hong Kong and plans to stay for the next 2 years
You will not qualify if you...
- Belongs to priority groups for influenza vaccination in Hong Kong, including pregnant women, long-stay residents in disability institutions, persons with chronic cardiovascular, lung, metabolic, kidney diseases, obesity (BMI 30 or above), chronic neurological conditions, healthcare workers, or persons working in poultry, pig farming, or pig slaughtering
- Diagnosed medical conditions affecting the immune system
- Taking medication that impairs the immune system
- History of severe allergic reaction to influenza vaccines or components, moderate/severe acute illness after previous influenza vaccination, or Guillain-Barré syndrome within 6 weeks of vaccination
- Medical conditions unsuitable for live attenuated vaccines, such as asthma, close contact with severely immunosuppressed persons, or immunosuppressive treatment
- Medical conditions unsuitable for intramuscular injection, such as bleeding disorders or habitual anticoagulant use (except antiplatelets like aspirin)
- Any other medical condition deemed unsuitable for influenza vaccines by a clinician
