This research investigates the early detection of skin tumors using telemedicine tools in primary care settings across the Czech Republic. It is a national, prospective, multicenter, single-arm interventional pilot project involving general practitioners and dermatology centers. The study aims to improve healthcare efficiency by methodically preparing, implementing, and evaluating a new procedure for early skin tumor detection and integrating it into the healthcare system. Participants will be screened in general practitioners offices where physicians are trained to examine skin lesions using magnifying devices like dermatoscopes and advanced telemedicine software supported by AI algorithms. High-risk lesions identified through this process will lead to referrals to specialized dermatology centers for further examination, including possible excision and histopathological assessment. The project includes collaboration between general practitioners and dermatologists and proposes systemic changes to enhance screening efficiency. Participants will have skin lesions examined with high-resolution imaging and telemedicine assessments. Researchers will measure potential malignancies from enrollment through baseline examination, confirmed malignancies at three months, and confirmed malignancies by histology at six months. The study involves approximately 1,440 individuals aged 50 and older, with ongoing monitoring and secure information exchange between healthcare providers. The total participation timeline includes baseline and follow-up diagnostic evaluations extending up to six months.
