Babies Can't Wait (BCW) in Georgia will be referring families with children seeking an autism spectrum disorder (autism) diagnosis at the Emory Autism Center's (EAC) Child Screening and Assessment Clinic.The objective of this study is to develop, pilot, and evaluate a diagnostic protocol for children identified at high risk for autism in the BCW early intervention program screening (part of a public health service). This program evaluation will be using pre- and post-data and data collected through the process to evaluate the effectiveness of the EDRM pilot.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Child aged between 16 and 30 months
  • Child scored 8 or higher on the M-CHAT-R screening
  • Referral made by a BCW provider in a participating health district by child age 33 months
  • Evaluations completed by child age 36 months
  • Parent or guardian has basic English proficiency
  • Parent or guardian has internet access
  • Child has exposure to English at home or in out-of-home care
  • Documentation of M-CHAT-R high-risk score (8 or above) included in referral
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Families who self-refer or are referred outside targeted BCW districts
  • Child older than 33 months at time of referral
  • Non-English speaking families due to protocol limitations and language correlation with autism criteria
