Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age over 18 years
- Diagnosis of severe uncontrolled asthma according to Spanish Asthma Management Guide (GEMA) or Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) criteria
- No hospitalizations in the month before study inclusion
- Apnea-hypopnea index of 15 or higher
- Epworth Sleepiness Scale score of 10 or less
- Signed informed consent obtained
You will not qualify if you...
- Previous treatment with CPAP
- Central sleep apnea or Cheyne-Stokes respiration
- Other sleep disorders such as narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome, or chronic insomnia
- Resistant hypertension
- Active smoking
- Unstable medical conditions or medications that may affect asthma control
- Pregnancy
- Life expectancy less than 1 year
- Any medical or social reason that may reduce CPAP compliance
