Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 60 years or older
- ASA physical status of III or lower
- Scheduled for elective therapeutic ERCP procedure
- Able and willing to provide informed consent or have a legal guardian do so
You will not qualify if you...
- Altered gastrointestinal anatomy, delayed gastric emptying, or gastric outlet obstruction
- Coagulopathy or tendency to nosebleeds
- Cardiac diseases such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, or arrhythmias
- Pulmonary diseases including asthma or COPD
- Previous allergic reaction to anesthetic agents
- Active upper respiratory infection
- Severe liver or kidney diseases
- Difficult airway as assessed before surgery
- Psychiatric disorders or cognitive impairment
- Critical illness
- Pregnancy
