Comparing Two Kinesiology Taping Methods for Chronic Low Back Pain Effects on Thoracolumbar Fascia Thickness, Pain, and Disability

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are studying the effects of different kinesiology taping techniques on the thickness of the thoracolumbar fascia, pain levels, and functional disability in people with nonspecific chronic low back pain. This randomized controlled trial will include 30 adults aged 18 to 65 years who have been diagnosed with nonspecific mechanical chronic low back pain. The study aims to provide evidence-based data on how these taping methods may impact the fascia and symptoms in this condition. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups the Functional Fascial Taping Group will receive kinesiology tape applied with a fascia correction technique using I and Y strips with 10-50% oscillatory tension the Muscle Technique Taping Group will receive traditional muscle taping on paravertebral muscles with varying tension levels and the Damascus Taping Group will receive sham taping without therapeutic tension or targeted correction. All taping interventions will be applied twice a week for two weeks. In addition, all participants will perform cervical stabilization exercises over six weeks. Participants will be evaluated before and after treatment for pain intensity using the Visual Analog Scale, pressure pain threshold with an algometer, functional disability using the Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Index, and fascia thickness using ultrasound imaging. Secondary assessments include posture, spinal mobility, and endurance tests. The study will monitor changes over six weeks to assess the impact of the different taping techniques on clinical and tissue-level outcomes.
