Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Clinical diagnosis of Parkinson's disease consistent with the United Kingdom Parkinson's Disease Society Brain Bank criteria
  • Parkinson's disease duration longer than 5 years
  • Acute levodopa motor response of 30% or greater
  • Indication for subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation (STN-DBS) surgery
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Severe cognitive impairment
  • Severe psychiatric disorders
  • Acute levodopa motor response less than 30%
  • Atypical parkinsonism
  • Contraindications to surgery
