Podcast-Based Breastfeeding Education for Mothers of Preterm Infants in the NICU A Randomized Study on Breastfeeding Confidence and Success

Researchers are evaluating the impact of breastfeeding education delivered through podcasts on mothers of preterm infants admitted to a neonatal intensive care unit. The study aims to improve mothers breastfeeding success, awareness, motivation, self-confidence, and perceptions regarding milk supply. By enhancing mothers knowledge and confidence, the research seeks to help them overcome breastfeeding challenges and better support their preterm infants nutritional needs. Mothers in the experimental group will receive a podcast series via WhatsApp, covering topics such as breastfeeding preterm infants, the importance and composition of breast milk, expressing and storing milk, common breastfeeding challenges, and ways to increase milk production. Daily follow-up calls will monitor podcast engagement. The control group will receive standard breastfeeding education as per hospital protocol without additional podcast support. Participants will be assessed using several scales measuring breastfeeding awareness, motivation, self-efficacy, and perception of insufficient milk supply at two points one day after hospital admission and one day before discharge. Data collection includes demographic and neonatal characteristics. The study uses a randomized controlled design to compare changes between groups, with participation lasting from admission until discharge, and ongoing monitoring through follow-up calls during the intervention period.
