Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Male between the ages of 18-40 years old
- Healthy and ready for physical activity as determined by PAR-Q+ and Medical History Questionnaire
- Recreationally active with at least 150 minutes of exercise per week
- Actively resistance training for a minimum of 6 months with at least one lower body session per week
- Willing to abstain from bananas and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs during the study
- Willing to avoid dietary supplements that may affect study outcomes, with a 28-day washout if currently supplementing
- Consuming less than 300 mg caffeine per day and willing to keep caffeine intake consistent
- Access to and willing to use the MyFitnessPal application on a cellphone or computer
- Free from previous or current lower body injuries that may limit performance
- Willing to abstain from lower body resistance training for 14 days before experimental trials
You will not qualify if you...
- Does not provide consent to participate
- Unable to perform physical exercise or has conditions preventing safe completion of the protocol
- Not currently participating in at least 150 minutes of physical activity per week
- Not currently resistance trained as defined in inclusion criteria
- Currently taking performance-enhancing drugs
- Taking nutritional supplements known to improve physical performance and unwilling to refrain for 28 days before study
- Regularly taking medications affecting performance or having chronic illnesses requiring medical care
- Used nicotine or tobacco in the last three months
- Consuming bananas or NSAIDs during study participation
- Daily caffeine consumption over 300 mg
- Experiencing lower extremity muscle soreness at experimental trials
- Previous or current lower body injuries limiting ability to perform assessments
- Unwilling or unable to consume provided standardized snacks and meals entirely
- Unwilling or unable to adhere to diet restrictions
- Food allergy to provided energy bars
- Unwilling or unable to report all food and beverage consumption during dietary log periods
