This research aims to understand how the length of time using single-lung ventilation (SLV) during thoracic surgery affects the chance of developing lung-related problems afterward. These problems include pneumonia, pneumothorax, hemothorax, acute lung injury, and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The study will observe 134 adult patients aged 18 to 85 years who are scheduled for thoracic surgery requiring SLV. During the surgeries, researchers will record the exact duration of SLV, which is the time one lung is ventilated while the other is not, without changing any treatment. They will also collect other details about the surgery and patient care around the time of the operation. The focus is on naturally occurring SLV times and how they relate to lung complications that may happen after surgery. Participants will be monitored for seven days after their surgery to check for any lung complications. Data collected will include surgical timing and postoperative lung health outcomes. This observational approach helps researchers explore the connection between SLV duration and lung problems without altering usual care. The total participation time is based on the surgery date and one week of follow-up.
