Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Patients over 18 years of age
- Patients with diabetic kidney disease with eGFR less than 60 ml/min/1.73m2 and greater or equal to 15 ml/min/1.73m2 (stages G3a, G3b, and G4)
- Patients with protein energy wasting defined by serum albumin less than 3.8 g/dl
- Patients with protein energy wasting defined by dietary protein intake less than 0.6 g/kg/day or energy intake less than 25 kcal/kg/day
- Patients who can read and write or have a primary caregiver who can
- Patients living within the metropolitan area
You will not qualify if you...
- Hospitalization within the last month
- Serious complications including chronic infection, septicemia, cancer, HIV, Alzheimer's disease, uncontrolled heart failure, liver failure, cerebrovascular syndrome, malabsorption syndrome, or allergy to any ingredient in the nutritional supplement
- Current use of food supplements and/or keto analogues
