Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age between 20 and 65 years
- Diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder according to DSM-5 criteria assessed by Structured Clinical Interview
You will not qualify if you...
- Unable to provide informed consent or understand the study procedures
- Major psychiatric illness including schizophrenia spectrum disorder, bipolar spectrum disorder, or major depressive disorder with psychotic features
- Current substance use disorder except nicotine or limited use of low-potency benzodiazepines for sleep
- Known noise-induced hearing loss, ototoxic medication use, or cochlear implant
- Unstable medical illnesses such as cancer, uncontrolled diabetes, unstable heart disease, recent heart attack, or significant cerebrovascular/cardiovascular risk
- Use of medications that lower seizure threshold (e.g., tricyclic antidepressants, bupropion, clozapine)
- Presence of physiological signal-controlled implants such as pacemaker, implantable cardioverter defibrillator, or cochlear implant
- Metallic objects in the head including stents or sutures
- Elevated seizure risk due to history of brain trauma, seizures, intracranial lesions, or withdrawal syndromes related to alcohol or benzodiazepines
