What this Trial Is About

Researchers are studying the effectiveness of the LIGHTER-MetS program, a community-based, health coach-led initiative using the eTRIP9 app, to support healthy lifestyle changes in people with metabolic syndrome (MetS). The program aims to improve dietary self-regulation and reduce cardiovascular risk by focusing on diet, exercise, and emotion regulation. Participants in the study will either take part in the LIGHTER-MetS program or receive usual care. The program involves health coaching sessions at the start and during three months of follow-up, combined with using the eTRIP9 app to log meals, track physical activity, and get personalized feedback. Usual care includes personalized health plans developed with a family physician targeting disease prevention and lifestyle goals. During the study, participants will be assessed at baseline, 3, 6, and 12 months for eating behavior, cardiovascular risk, weight, waist size, blood pressure, and various health questionnaires. Researchers will monitor physical and mental health, including blood glucose and cholesterol levels, and quality of life measures. The total follow-up lasts up to 12 months to evaluate how well participants manage their health and lifestyle changes.
