What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating a new approach to stroke rehabilitation focused on improving upper extremity function. This study combines different types of robot-assisted therapy with task-oriented therapy in a circuit training program. The goal is to enhance motor control, daily function, reduce caregiver burden, and lower medical costs related to long-term care after stroke. The findings may help professionals apply clinical research more effectively and understand how this combined therapy works. The study has three groups receiving different interventions over six weeks, with three sessions per week. One group receives a circuit training program that includes 20 minutes of exoskeleton robot-assisted therapy, 20 minutes of end-effector robot-assisted therapy, and 40 minutes of task-oriented therapy split into unilateral and bilateral training. Another group receives 80 minutes of robot-assisted therapy only, and the third group receives 80 minutes of task-oriented therapy only. The robot devices used provide continuous passive motion, active-assisted training, and interactive tasks with real-time feedback. Participants will be assessed at baseline, after completing 18 intervention sessions, and three months later. Assessments include cognitive tests, motor function scales, muscle spasticity, grip and pinch strength, sensory evaluation, and various measures of daily living ability and self-efficacy. The study monitors changes in motor control, daily function, and quality of life over time to evaluate the effects of the different therapies.
