Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Body mass index (BMI) of 27 kg/m2 or higher
You will not qualify if you...
- History of blood clot, transient ischemic attack, stroke, angina, heart attack, or peripheral vascular disease
- Current cancer diagnosis
- Pregnant or lactating women
- Current, prior (within 12 months), or planned use of medications for hyperlipidemia, high blood pressure, diabetes, or other medications that may affect study results
- Unwillingness to avoid anti-inflammatory medications during the study
- Unwillingness to avoid marijuana use during the study
- Use of tobacco products
- Engaging in strenuous exercise more than 4 hours per week at a level higher than walking
- History of surgery or medication for weight loss
- Food allergies or dietary restrictions that may interfere with study diet
- Routine intake of more than 2 sugar-sweetened or 2 alcoholic beverages per day
- Unwillingness to consume artificial or noncaloric sweeteners
- Regular consumption (more than 10 grams per day) of erythritol-containing foods or beverages
- Recent or current weight loss diet
