Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Adult men and women aged 18 to 45 years
  • In general good health
  • Body Mass Index (BMI) between 18.5 and 25
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Age younger than 18 or older than 45 years
  • Women who are pregnant, nursing, or had a pregnancy within the past year
  • Women who are peri-menopausal or post-menopausal
  • Women with irregular menstrual cycles
  • Women using hormonal contraception or hormonal intrauterine devices
  • History of autoimmune conditions or cancer (except non-melanoma skin cancer)
  • Cardiovascular, pulmonary, reproductive, endocrine, metabolic, neurologic, gastrointestinal, hematologic, or infectious diseases
  • Diagnosed with galactosemia or congenital disorders of glycosylation
  • Diagnosed with phenylketonuria
  • Use of prescription medications in the last 3 months
  • Use of over-the-counter medications
  • Use of supplements including herbal, protein, or vitamin supplements in the last 3 months, except multivitamins
  • BMI less than 18.5 or greater than 25
  • History of severe food or drug allergic reactions
  • Allergic reactions to shellfish, N-acetylglucosamine, galactose, Spirulina/chlorella/algae supplements, or arabinose-containing products
  • First-degree relative with autoimmune conditions
  • Current use of tobacco, alcohol, or drugs
  • Certain dietary or exercise habits such as active dieting, vegan diet, high tea/coffee/juice intake, intensive exercise, soda/energy drink consumption, frequent fast food, high alcohol intake
  • Following carbohydrate-restricted, Paleo, or calorie-restricted diets
  • Unable to consent
  • Prisoners
