Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Female
- Between 18 and 75 years old
- Diagnosed with fibromyalgia according to the 2016 Fibromyalgia Diagnostic Criteria
- Average pain level between 4 and 10 cm on a visual analog scale over the last 7 days with no pain-free days in the last 2 months and active resting pain lying on back
- No contraindications for MRI such as metal or electrical devices in the body
- Willing to avoid new medications or treatments for fibromyalgia symptoms during the study
- Able to travel to the study site up to twice weekly for MRI and treatment sessions
- Willing and able to complete all study procedures
- Able to give written informed consent
- Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English
You will not qualify if you...
- Received energy healing within the last 6 months
- Previous treatment from or knowledge of Charlie Goldsmith or his work
- Contraindications to MRI or fcMRI including surgical clips, staples, metal implants, certain metallic dental materials, or claustrophobia
- Concurrent autoimmune or inflammatory diseases causing pain such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, or inflammatory bowel disease
- Peripheral neuropathy that affects daily activities
- Routine daily use of narcotic pain medications or history of substance abuse
- Use of stimulant medications for ADHD or fatigue related to sleep apnea or shift work
- Participation in other therapeutic trials
- Pregnant or nursing
- Severe psychiatric illness such as current schizophrenia or major depression with suicidal thoughts
- Active substance abuse disorder in the past 24 months
- Use of over-the-counter pain medications on the day of MRI
- Use of narcotic pain medication within 48 hours before MRI
- Current active legal action related to fibromyalgia pain
- Any condition or situation that may prevent completing the study as judged by the research team, including unreliable or inconsistent pain reports
