Study on Fun-Core Video Exercises to Improve Balance and Movement in Children Aged 6 to 12 with Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating the effects of Fun-Core, a child-friendly core stabilization exercise program, on balance and functional mobility in children aged 6 to 12 years with hemiplegic cerebral palsy. This prospective, randomized, and single-blind study involves 54 children registered at the outpatient clinics of Istanbul Universitys Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The study aims to compare this new exercise program with a standard home exercise routine to understand their impact on children with this condition. Participants are randomly assigned to either the intervention group, which receives the Fun-Core video exercise program delivered through a website, or the control group, which follows a standard home exercise program provided in brochure format. Both groups are instructed to perform their exercises at home three times a week for 8 weeks, with the intervention group receiving additional video guidance designed to motivate and support their development. During the study, children will undergo assessments before starting treatment, at the end of the 8-week treatment period, and one month after treatment completion. These assessments include the Modified Timed Up & Go Test and the Pediatric Balance Scale as primary outcome measures. Secondary evaluations include the Six Minute Walk Test, Trunk Endurance Tests, Pediatric Reach Test, WeeFIM, Pediatric Quality of Life Questionnaire, and a cerebral palsy-specific brief questionnaire. Patient progress and adherence will be monitored through follow-up forms completed at each evaluation timepoint.
