What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating the effects of a culturally appropriate Latin Dance program on sleep quality among Hispanic cancer survivors. This feasibility randomized controlled trial aims to assess whether the Latin Dance intervention is practical and acceptable for participants and to explore its impact compared to usual care. The study also examines secondary effects on cancer- and treatment-related symptoms such as quality of life, distress, insomnia, and fatigue. Participants are randomly assigned to either a usual care group, receiving standard care without the dance program, or to an intervention group that participates in a virtual Latin Dance program. This program consists of twice-weekly 75-minute sessions over 8 weeks. The dance intervention is developed through community engagement to be culturally relevant to Hispanic survivors. Throughout the study, participants complete various assessments including sleep quality questionnaires, actigraphy monitoring for sleep patterns, physical activity and sleep diaries, and measures of fatigue, anxiety, depression, pain, and exercise self-efficacy. These are collected at baseline, during, and after the intervention period to evaluate feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy. Participants are monitored over approximately 8 weeks, with follow-up assessments to track changes and safety.
