Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Men and women between the ages of 18 and 35 years
- Healthy adults without significant acute or chronic medical conditions, injuries, or illnesses that could affect safety or study participation as determined by the Principal Investigator
You will not qualify if you...
- Current or past diagnosis of major metabolic diseases such as type I or type II diabetes
- Neuromuscular diseases including cervical spondylotic radiculomyelopathy, lumbar spondylosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Guillain-Barré syndrome, or acquired demyelinating polyneuropathies
- Cardiovascular diseases such as stage II hypertension, heart failure, myocardial infarction or ischemia, peripheral vascular disease, Raynaud's phenomenon, or related circulation impairments
- Significant myocardial or pericardial diseases like amyloidosis or constriction
- Moderate or severe valvular heart disease
- Pulmonary or respiratory diseases including asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
- Cancer
- Kidney disease
- Liver disease
- Anemia
- Current or recent musculoskeletal injury such as fracture, sprain, or dislocation, or any physical disability limiting safe testing
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Thigh circumference greater than 23 inches
- Mid-thigh skinfold thickness greater than 40 mm
