Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adults 19 years and older
- Hospitalized in the surgical or medical intensive care unit of the Seoul National University Hospital
- Receiving enteral nutrition
- Patients who have consented to participate in the study
- Patients with risk factors for pancreatic exocrine dysfunction such as shock requiring norepinephrine, sepsis (3rd definition), diabetes, cardiac arrest, hyperlactatemia (serum lactate > 2 mmol/L), mechanical ventilation, or continuous renal replacement therapy
You will not qualify if you...
- History of chronic pancreatitis
- Unresectable pancreatic cancer
- History of pancreatectomy
- Presence of underlying diseases that may interfere with the effect of exocrine pancreatic enzyme administration, including inflammatory bowel disease and short bowel syndrome
