Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Community ambulant adults between 18 to 65 years old as of testing day
- Able to understand French or Dutch depending on study site
- Body mass index (BMI) between 18 and 30 kg/m²
You will not qualify if you...
- Diagnosed neuromuscular or cardiorespiratory disease
- Diagnosed psychiatric or psychological disorders affecting adherence or comprehension
- Diagnosed eating disorders
- Previous or ongoing head and neck cancer
- Diagnosed obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)
- High risk of sleep-disordered breathing indicated by NoSAS score ≥ 8 or STOP-Bang score ≥ 3
- Resting heart rate greater than 100 bpm or less than 50 bpm
- Resting systolic blood pressure greater than 140 mmHg or less than 90 mmHg
- Resting diastolic blood pressure greater than 90 mmHg or less than 50 mmHg
- Oxygen saturation less than 94% at rest on room air
- Abnormal lung function: FEV1 ≤ 80%, FVC ≤ 80%, and FEV1/FVC ≤ 70%
