Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age between 18 and 70 years
- ASA physical status classification of I to III
You will not qualify if you...
- Age under 18 years or over 70 years
- ASA physical status classification IV
- History of severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD, GOLD III or IV)
- History of severe or uncontrolled bronchial asthma or presence of restrictive lung disease
- History of any thoracic surgery or need for thoracic drainage before surgery
- Receiving preoperative renal replacement therapy
- Congestive heart failure classified as NYHA grade III or IV
- Extreme obesity with body mass index (BMI) over 35 kg/m2
- Lack of patient consent
